Yes I read that on your site but they never mentioned PS3 or let it slip like that other add It seems that they are planning for it to be on PS3 for sure but everything was hints or speculation but this was the first thing they let slip

I would absolutely LOVE IT if it came out for the PS3, but with an unofficial release date of 2015 I seriously doubt it. By 2015 the PS4 will be here if not already.

I'll believe it when they (Sony) officially announce that it will be coming to the console . If it does it'll be great , but I believe like Ronsin , it'll be released on the Ps4 not the Ps3 .

dam.... wish i could drop that much dough so easily..... lol..... im excited to c what the creative minds behind this title have come up with.... i remember EQOA always having some sort of content going on.... i was mainly an elf ranger, think ill go dark elf if its available and stay on the dark side.... idk if ill get it at release though cus i usually dont buy first gen electronics, probably b about 3-6 months behind the rest if yas when i get it

The only way I'll buy a PS4 on release day is if and ONLY if EQ Next is released with it, which is highly unlikely because SOE has already announced that a playable version will be shown at E3 which in turn probably means the actual game is probably another year away.

Ronson you know you're going to have to get a PS4 even if EQ Next is PC only. Just too many ubah games like The Last of Us etc Tons of exclsuives and the tech is pretty kool too. Imagine uploading gameplay of our raids at click of a button to UStream/Youtube and much more.

Typical republican response , without thinking before action. You can quad with (2) ps4's and (2) pc's . Cross platforms is the way of the future .

Ronsin if FF14 comes out on PS4 and EQ Next on PS4 you can quad on 4 PS4's and then use your new PC for a 5th box since they are on the same servers. You can dual box FF14 soon though with 1 PS3, 1 on PC.

I think they will show off the PS4 to show PS4 games. They have to reveal what it looks like too.

it would be awesome if they are part of the sony conference, games like these deserve to be on stage imo... id b happy with just a fly through of yhe current world, or some combat, pretty much anything! lol

Oh nm you're talking about EQ Next. They might talk about it but it will not be shown until the big SOE Live reveal Aug 2nd in Vegas.

There's your EverQuest Next, boys and girls, straight from the Smed himself. SOE President John Smedley posted a teaser photo on Twitter for the upcoming sandbox fantasy title, saying, "Very excited to show EQN at SOE Live."

The photo shows a grimacing character model and various armor pieces on
two screens. It's obvious that the screens are a work in progress, as
the textures and colors aren't included.

Although it's been lightly talked about by the studio for years now, EverQuest Next's full reveal will happen at this August's SOE Live. While we'll have to wait to see what's announced for the title, we have our own wish list of what should be included.

Now that Blizzard has pushed any further information and development of its 'Titan' MMO to the distant future, it's time for EverQuest Next to take the spotlight. Check out our thoughts on the subject before heading to the comments to discuss.

Blizzard just left the door wide open for SOE to retake the throne as the King of the MMO. Back in 2004, which now frankly feels like forever ago, SOE and Blizzard were locked deeply in the greatest pissing match of all time leading up to the launch of Everquest II and World of Warcraft. Back then, there still weren’t many marquee MMORPGs in the world, and these two titles were equally hyped up and anticipated by press, gamers, and developers alike. Everyone had their eyes on EQ2 and WoW. Theatres had trailers running on end for both. You couldn’t go see a movie and not be subjected to the CG trailer for either game. Only, back then, everyone expected that the industry veteran of SOE was going to be top dog, and that Blizzard’s game wouldn’t be able to match up. But then both launched, and well... we all know how that story ended.

By all accounts, we here at MMORPG.com were ready for SOE and Blizzard to go head-to-head again with Project Titan and EQ Next. Now, with Blizzard going back to the drawing board on their next big MMORPG, the time is absolutely right for EverQuest to step back into the limelight. What’s more is that this time around, SOE isn’t content on making this new version of Norrath another theme-park raiding extravaganza. In yet another sign that the days of simple quest hubs and gear grinds are coming to a close (or at least a tipping point), SOE’s John Smedley has gone on record stating that whatever EverQuest Next is it will be the be the biggest sandbox of all time.

This is the kind of thing that makes our hearts palpitate here at MMORPG.com. And if Dave Georgeson’s recent interview back at PAX East (embedded below) is any indication, it truly seems like SOE has its eyes on the prize to make an MMO that’s unlike anything we’ve seen before.



Then there’s also the recent announcement from Namaste that they and SOE have entered into a collaboration to utilize Storybricks in EQNext. For those unfamiliar with Namaste’s toolset, it’s essentially a way for players to make their own adventures of a very deep and complex nature. You can see some of the system’s potential in the below video.



This announcement, plus Smed’s own touting of what EQNext will be, and of course Dave’s own design philosophy behind the title have us all getting our expectations rather high. We know better, of course. There’s also the SOEmote technology that could allow players to truly bring their characters to life, and I’d be surprised if it wasn’t involved somehow in EQN. I know that we shouldn’t get too excited before seeing what the game actually looks and plays like. But if SOE is truly able to give us a fantasy world to live in, and not just “quest” in? Well, a new age of MMORPG could be right around the corner. It can be argued that EverQuest is the game to bring the MMO out of its proverbial closet. It would only be fitting if its next installment is the game to bring the MMO into a new era of player interaction, world building, and true immersion.

That’s enough of me spouting on what I’m hoping to see see from EverQuest Next. It’s true though that Blizzard just left the door wide open for SOE’s next game. And this summer, at SOE Live, we’ll all finally get to see what the team’s been building. Heck, we’re even going to get to play it. It’s a full-on reveal, not just some teaser of a game to come in three or four years. Smedley has even stated on several occasions that the game could be launched by the year’s end. So I guess all we have to do now is wait, and hope that Dave Georgeson and his team capitalize on this opportunity.
